Anurag Thakur hit back at Rahul Gandhi, said – ‘Congress has cut the throats of Sikhs’

New Delhi: During the discussion on the 75th anniversary of the Constitution in the Lok Sabha on Saturday (December 14, 2024), Congress leader Rahul Gandhi mentioned the governance system of Uttar Pradesh and the incident of Adani and Eklavya biting their thumbs. BJP leader Anurag Thakur reacted sharply to his statement and launched a scathing attack on Congress.

Anurag Thakur’s counterattack

Countering Rahul Gandhi’s statement, Anurag Thakur said:

“You accuse us of cutting the thumb, but Congress has cut the throats of the Sikhs.”

Also referring to the Emergency, he said:

“It was the strength of the Constitution that ended Indira Gandhi’s Emergency. “People roam around with the Constitution in their hands, but they don’t even know how many pages are there in it.”

Comment on the credit of the Constitution

“When you talk about saving the Constitution, you make fun of your leader Savarkar. Just as Dronacharya had cut off the thumb of Ekalavya, in the same way you are cutting off the thumb of the youth of the country.”

Rahul Gandhi further said:

  • “When you sell Dharavi to Adani, you disinherit the people of Dharavi.”
  • “By helping Adani, you are hurting the common people of the country.”
  • “Through lateral entry, you cut the back of the backward and depressed class.”
  • “The youth are being spoiled by Agniveer Yojana and paper leaks.”

Lok Sabha Speaker’s comment

Lok Sabha Speaker appealed to Rahul Gandhi to speak on the Constitution. In response, Rahul Gandhi said:

“There is no mention of monopoly and discrimination in the Constitution.”
