Heart attack, brain stroke in winter: Amidst the cold winds, the temperature of North India including the capital Delhi is continuously falling. In this cold season, we need to be more careful about our health. According to doctors, the risk of heart attack, brain stroke and asthma attack increases manifold in winter. Experts say that the possibility of heart attack increases by 50% in this season.

According to Professor Naval Vikram of the Department of Medicine of AIIMS, the body sweats less in winter. Due to which blood pressure starts increasing and its direct effect falls on the veins that supply blood to the heart. Additionally, the heart has to work harder to keep the body warm, which increases the pressure on the heart.

Effect of cholesterol:
Dr. Tarun Kumar of Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital says that extra energy is needed to keep the body warm in winter. During this period, the risk of cholesterol accumulation in the arteries of the heart increases, which can cause the arteries to shrink. This condition can prove fatal for heart patients.

AIIMS Professor Naval Vikram says that the risk of brain stroke increases by 30 percent in winter. Due to lack of sweating from the body, blood pressure increases, which is a major cause of brain stroke. Due to poor blood circulation and lack of oxygen, brain cells die. Sometimes this condition becomes so serious that the patient does not realize it in time.

Keep these things in mind:
* Reduce salt intake and limit the use of butter and ghee.
* It is important to drink plenty of water and keep the body hydrated.
* Exercise regularly indoors so that the body sweats and blood circulation remains good.
* Do not ignore heart and brain related problems. Wear warm clothes in cold weather and avoid sudden changes in temperature.
