By winning this title at the age of 43, Bopanna became the oldest Indian player to win a Grand Slam.

5. D Gukesh wins Chess World Championship 2024 title

India’s young chess player D Gukesh created history in the world of chess in 2024. In the World Chess Championship held in Singapore, he won the title by defeating the defending champion, Ding Liren of China. 18 year old Gukesh became the youngest player to win this title. With this, he became the second Indian player after the legendary Vishwanathan Anand to win the global chess title.
