The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday arrested a youth from Sanapara area of ​​Hooghly district of West Bengal on suspicion of being linked to the Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist organization. Officials said that the arrested youth has been identified as Sabiruddin.

According to sources, a large amount of cash, a mobile phone and a laptop have been recovered from Sabiruddin’s house. He has already been brought to the NIA office in Kolkata.

Sources said that this action is part of the raids conducted by the NIA at 19 places in eight states. These states include West Bengal, Bihar, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Jammu and Kashmir.

This arrest is being considered very important at the present time, because the security agencies of the state and central governments are increasing surveillance on the border areas of West Bengal adjoining Bangladesh. Due to the current crisis in Bangladesh, the fear of danger in these areas has increased.

Meanwhile, intelligence agencies have also received information that members of Bangladesh-based fundamentalist organization Hizb-ut-Tahrir (HUT) have recently been trying to become active in the border districts of West Bengal and are making plans to create sleeper cells there. Have been.

According to intelligence reports, there has been a sudden increase in incidents of rooms being rented by outsiders in villages located near the international border. According to local residents, the age of these newcomers is usually between 25 and 30 years and they do not interact much with the local people.

Additionally, intelligence agencies have also received information that two active members of HUT, Ridwan Maroof and Sabbir Aamir, had recently come to West Bengal as students on Bangladeshi passports. He held meetings with local youth in Malda and Murshidabad districts. Initially they discussed religious issues and later the conversation turned towards building sleeper cells.

After this incident, security agencies have increased vigilance in the border areas of West Bengal.
