Kolkata, 13 December (HS). ISKCON Kolkata Vice President Radharaman Das said on Friday that the situation of ISKCON has become extremely worrying due to the continuous attacks on minority Hindus in Bangladesh. He appealed for the safety of Hindus in Bangladesh and for the current interim government to fulfill their responsibilities.

Radharaman Das said that several ISKCON properties in Bangladesh have been attacked in recent times, but no concrete steps have been taken to protect them. The situation of ISKCON has become very difficult there.

Das expressed concern over the statement of a Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leader in which every youth of the country was asked to take arms training for the future struggle. He said that such irresponsible statements will further worsen the situation in Bangladesh and encourage militants.

Das also criticized the statement of another BNP leader in which Bangladesh had claims on Bengal, Bihar and Odisha.

Demanding the release of the Hindu leader, he said, “We hope that the interim government of Bangladesh will fulfill its responsibility and ensure the safety of every citizen there, especially the minorities. We demand the immediate release and fair trial of Hindu leader Chinmoy Krishna Das.”

Protests in West Bengal Meanwhile, Hindu organizations in various parts of West Bengal took out rallies on Friday demanding the release of Chinmoy Krishna Das and stopping the attacks on minorities in Bangladesh.

There has been unrest in Bangladesh since the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s government on August 5. There have been more than 200 attacks on minority Hindus in the last four months. The Hindu population, which constitutes only eight percent of the country’s total population of 170 million, continues to face violence and attacks.
