New Delhi: For the first time in the country’s history, the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday moved a no-confidence motion in the Rajya Sabha to remove Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar from the post. Jagdeep Dhankhar is accused of adopting discriminatory policy in Rajya Sabha. The opposition needs majority to pass the resolution, but the opposition does not have the necessary majority in the 243-member House. However, the opposition has emphasized that they have brought the no-confidence motion only to send a message of fighting for parliamentary democracy.

From the opposition side, along with the notice signed by 60 MPs including Congress leaders Jairam Ramesh and Nasir Hussain, RJD, Trinamool, CPI, CPI-M, JMM, AAP, DMK, Samajwadi Party, Rajya Sabha General Secretary P.C. It has been given to Modi. The opposition will bring a no-confidence motion under Article 67(B) of the Constitution. Under this rule, 14 days’ notice has been given to the Bharat Alliance. For the first time in the history of the country, a no-confidence motion has been brought to remove the Vice President.

However, the opposition’s no-confidence motion is unlikely to be passed in the Rajya Sabha. Because the opposition does not have the necessary numerical strength to pass the motion to remove Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar. Also, even if this proposal is passed in the Rajya Sabha, it needs to be passed by majority in the Lok Sabha to be accepted. If this motion is passed, it would be the first attempt to remove the Rajya Sabha Speaker in India’s parliamentary history and would be seen as an embarrassment to the Speaker.

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said that they did not want to move a no-confidence motion against Vice President Dhankhar, but the Bharat Group had no option but to formally move a no-confidence motion against him as he was conducting the Rajya Sabha proceedings very strictly. Biased manner. According to a report, opposition sources said that they wanted to bring a no-confidence motion in the monsoon session in August itself. Even then he had the requisite number of signatures from the All India Block parties, but he did not want to escalate the controversy and wanted to give a chance to Jagdeep Dhankhar.

A source said the opposition wants the House to be run as per rules and traditions and personal comments against members are unacceptable. The Leader of the Opposition is not given a chance to speak in the House whereas the Leader of the House is given many opportunities to speak. In the last two-three days it has become clear that the government does not want the House to function. Jairam Ramesh accused Parliamentary Minister Kiren Rijiju that Rijiju had talked about not allowing the Rajya Sabha proceedings against Rajya Sabha Chairman Dhankhar and JP Nadda. In the meeting of floor leaders, Rijiju said that we will not allow the proceedings of Rajya Sabha to continue until the opposition does not raise the issue of Adani in the Lok Sabha.

Proposal to remove VP regrettable: Rijiju

New Delhi: Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju termed the opposition India Alliance’s move to move a no-confidence motion to remove Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar as disappointing. Rijiju said that if this proposal is presented, the opposition will need strength to pass it, which it does not have. Actually, the opposition’s allegations against Jagdeep Dhankhar are baseless. They are very professional and fair.
