7th Pay Commission DA Hike January 2025: There is good news for central employees in the new year. There is going to be an increase in dearness allowance. There is talk that there may be a good increase in dearness allowance again. According to AICPI index, dearness allowance of central government employees may increase by 3 percent. The current trend indicates that dearness allowance (January 2025 DA) will reach 56 percent. Let us also understand its calculation. Now the AICPI index figures till October have arrived. But if we also look at the trend of November and December, there is a possibility of an increase of 3 percent in DA.
AICPI Statistics
The AICPI index tracks changes in inflation and commodity prices in a country. So far, the figures for this half year of July, August, September and October 2024 have been released. According to him, in July this figure was 142.7 points, due to which the dearness allowance score became 53.64 percent. The index stood at 142.6 points and DA at 53.95% in August, while the allowance score stood at 54.49%, up from 143.3 points in September. In the latest data of October, the index reached 144.5 points. In such a situation, dearness allowance has reached 55.05 percent. Let us tell you that the current rate of dearness allowance is 53 percent which is applicable from July 2024.
New DA will be available from January 1
The central government amends DA every six months. After an increase of 3 percent in July 2024, now an increase of 3 percent is being seen in January 2025 also. This will benefit more than 1 crore employees and pensioners. The new dearness allowance for central employees will be applicable from January 2025, but it is expected to be announced in March 2025. Usually the government announces this around Holi in March.
What is the trend of November-December?
The index number as of October is 144.5 points, taking the inflation allowance to 55.05%. If we look at the trend of the next two months, the index may reach 145 points in November, then dearness allowance will reach 55.59%. Therefore, the index number in December is estimated to be 145.3 points, which will show a good increase in inflation allowance. But it will reach 56.18%. In such a situation, there is a possibility of an increase of 3 percent in the total dearness allowance.
How much will the salary increase?
According to the pay-grade ratio of the 7th Pay Commission, employees with minimum basic salary will get a benefit of Rs 6480 annually. For example, if the basic salary is Rs 18,000 and dearness allowance is 56 percent, then the calculation will be as follows.
DA from January 2025: ₹18,000 x 56% = ₹10,080/month
DA from July 2024: ₹18,000 x 53% = ₹9,540/month
Difference after 3% increase: ₹540 per month
