Ghaziabad. Dense fog during the winter season makes road travel extremely dangerous. Due to fog, back lights and brake lights of vehicles are not visible on the road, which increases the possibility of accidents. Especially in late December, the fog becomes denser, and visibility from roads to highways becomes extremely low. In such a situation, drivers need to take special precautions to travel safely.

Vehicles running without lights are a cause of danger

This situation continues even during Road Safety Week and Traffic Month. There are many commercial vehicles running on the streets, roads and highways, which neither have back lights nor brake lights. This situation becomes a danger not only to the driver but also to other passengers. To deal with this problem, intensive checking campaign and strict action is needed.

RTO’s preparations for vehicle safety

Divisional Transport Officer (RTO) Pramod Kumar Singh said that many efforts are being made for smooth and safe travel in fog. He said that the fitness of vehicles, lights, fog lights, back lights and reflective tape are being checked to ensure safe travel on the roads.

Awareness campaign for road safety

As part of the traffic awareness campaign, awareness camps were organized among various schools, colleges, bus stands, truck and e-rickshaw unions. In these camps, people were told to follow traffic rules, measures for safe travel and ways to avoid accidents.

Vehicle fitness and light checking

A continuous checking campaign is being conducted to check the fitness and lights of vehicles for safe travel. Strict action is being taken against those who violate the rules. This financial year, challans were issued for around 1,000 vehicles and more than 800 vehicles were seized.

Transport Department’s special plan for fog

The Transport Department has made several plans for safe travel during fog in winter:

  1. Regular checking of vehicles: All vehicles are being checked for fitness, fog lights, back lights and reflective tape.
  2. Strict guidelines: Instructions are being given not to drive under the influence of alcohol and not to use mobile phones while driving.
  3. Intensive Checking: Intensive checking of vehicles is being done on roads and highways so that vehicles without lights do not cause accidents.
