Mumbai, 07 December (HS). There was a split in Mahavikas Aghadi in Maharashtra on Saturday. Mahavikas Aghadi’s ally Samajwadi Party has announced its exit from Mahavikas Aghadi. Not only this, two members of Samajwadi Party and one member of Nationalist Congress Party SP have also taken oath as MLAs. Whereas Mahavikas Aghadi had today instructed its members not to take oath as MLA.
Samajwadi Party’s Maharashtra state president Abu Asim Azmi told journalists that there was never coordination in the Mahavikas Aghadi. When the elections started, there was a tussle among themselves regarding the distribution of tickets. During the election campaign, the leaders of Mahavikas Aghadi never took the allies into confidence. Even after the elections, there is no coordination among the allies of Mahavikas Aghadi. Therefore they are deciding to exit Mahavikas Aghadi. Abu Asim Azmi told that today he and another of his members have taken oath as MLAs.
Mahavikas Aghadi had today decided to boycott the oath taking ceremony for the post of MLA. But Mahavikas Aghadi’s ally Samajwadi Party ignored this and took oath as MLA. Similarly, Bapu Pathare, an MLA from Mahavikas Aghadi’s ally Nationalist Congress Party (NCP SP), also ignored the boycott by Mahavikas Aghadi and took oath as MLA. In Mahavikas Aghadi, Shiv Sena UBT has got 20 seats, Congress Party has got 16 seats, NCP SP has got 10 seats and Samajwadi Party has got 2 seats.
