Prayagraj, 06 December (HS). Construction work for Mahakumbh is also going on in full swing. Jal Nigam and the city are working with full capacity to realize CM Yogi’s vision of a clean and healthy Mahakumbh. On one hand, the Jal Nigam is arranging drinking water for the devotees coming to the urban Maha Kumbh, on the other hand, the organization is also responsible for the sludge disposal of the entire fair area.
In this sequence, the corporation will treat the sludge of 1,50,000 toilets in the fair area with the help of permanent and temporary treatment plants, cessful vehicles and pipelines. In the same direction, the work of Alopi Pumping Station has also been completed, so that the extra pressure of Maha Kumbh does not fall on Prayagraj city.
Target of 100% ODF
It is estimated that 40 crore devotees will come to Prayagraj for Mahakumbh, the biggest event of Sanatan culture. According to CM Yogi’s intention of clean and healthy Mahakumbh, efforts are being made to make the Mahakumbh Mela area completely ODF. According to this scheme, a record 1,50,000 toilets are being built in the fair area. The disposal of sludge from toilets in the fair area will be done with the help of Jal Nigam, Municipal Corporation, 3 temporary and permanent STPs at Naini, Jhunsi and Fecal Sludge Treatment Plant at Arail. Executive Engineer of Jal Nigam Urban Department, Saurabh Kumar said that for the disposal of sludge of Mahakumbh, 3 temporary STPs have been built in the fair area with the help of BARC. The work of transporting sludge to these STPs will be done by 9 cessful vehicles and sewage pipelines of the department. For this, Jal Nigam will have four 4 thousand liter capacity, three 3 thousand liter capacity and two thousand liter cessful vehicles for regular sludge disposal in the fair area. The remaining dirty water of the fair area will reach the STP directly through the sewage pipeline.
Chief Minister will inspect Aral Fecal Sludge Treatment Plant
To ensure that Prayagraj city does not face additional pressure of sludge from the devotees coming to Maha Kumbh, Jal Nigam has already completed the work of expanding the capacity of Alopi Pumping Station. Regarding this, Executive Engineer Saurabh Kumar said that the work of increasing the capacity of Alopi Pumping Station from 45 KLD to 80 KLD has been completed. After the raising work from December 10, Alopi Pumping Station will start functioning at full capacity. Working of both its old and new sumps will start.
He told that CM Yogi will inspect the fecal sludge treatment plant located in Arail during his visit to Prayagraj on 07 December. This treatment plant has been treating sludge from domestic septic tanks of Naini, Maheva and nearby areas since the month of June. From here the treated sludge is sent to the co-treatment plant at Jhunsi, from there finally treated water of 10 to 20 BOD is released.
