In the era in which we are living today, social media is used the most. Apart from WhatsApp and Facebook, there are many such apps through which one can connect with people. Telegram’s name has also been included in this list. A person has been defrauded of Rs 19 lakh using WhatsApp and Telegram. A strong net was laid to trap the person, in which he got badly trapped.
One such case has come to light from Nawanshahr, Punjab. Dheeraj Mehra’s son Namindra Lal Mehra was cheated like this which became a lesson for the people. He received a WhatsApp message from a woman named Augustine, on whose advice he downloaded the Telegram app. The person was given the task of voting. The woman told the man that she had to vote on the online app. For casting 3 votes he will get Rs 150 and this is what happened.
Fraud of Rs 19 lakh changed my thinking
The woman added the man to the VIP group. In this he talked to a person named George William. The fake person started giving him money in the name of charity. The person gave the person a Bitcoin wallet. Also gave him its login and password. When the man asked why the money was not coming into his account, he said that as he worked, the money would keep coming. By doing this he was cheated of Rs 19,73,763. The complainant informed the police about this matter and demanded the return of the money. Also, this matter has now reached the Cyber Crime Department. Now a case has been registered against unknown people and action has been started.
