Imran Khan's party PTI announced to sit in the opposition, why was it out of the race to form the government?

PTI out of race to form government: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the party of former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan, has made a big announcement regarding the elections on Friday. In which the party said that it will sit in opposition in the National and Punjab Provincial Assembly. PTI's Barrister Ali Saif has announced this decision of the party.

Earlier the Prime Ministerial candidate was announced

A day earlier, PTI had declared Omar Ayub Khan as the Prime Ministerial candidate and Aslam Iqbal as the Chief Ministerial candidate of Punjab. Speaking to the media after visiting Qaumi Watan Party in Islamabad, Saif said that the party has decided to sit in the opposition at the Center and Punjab as per the instructions of party founder Imran Khan. He further said that 'If the results had not changed, we would have been in power.'

No one got majority in the elections

It is noteworthy that general elections were held in Pakistan on February 8, in which no party has got a clear majority nor is any attempt being made to form a government through manipulation. PTI-backed independent candidates won 92 seats, while Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Pakistan People's Party won 75 and 54 seats respectively.

Shahbaz Sharif is PML-N's prime ministerial candidate

Efforts are on to form a new government in Pakistan. In such a situation, PML-N party has nominated Shahbaz Sharif for the post of Prime Minister. Along with this, Bilawal Bhutto's Pakistan People's Party (PPP) has decided to provide external support to PML-N to form the government. Also, Nawaz Sharif has made his daughter Maryam Nawaz the candidate for the post of Chief Minister of Punjab.
