The dream of Digital UP is coming true under the leadership of CM Yogi

Lucknow, 4 December (Hindustan Reporter). Yogi government has included BharatNet project as its priority to realize the vision of Digital India in the state. Through this ambitious scheme, the Yogi government is making rural and remote areas digitally capable by connecting them with high-speed internet connectivity. Through Bharat Net project, 46,729 gram panchayats in the state have been connected to the internet.

It is noteworthy that under the Bharat Net Project, work is underway on a plan to connect Gram Panchayats to the Internet in a phased manner. Under this scheme, a target has been set to connect all 2.64 lakh gram panchayats of the country with internet. By the end of October this year, more than 2.14 lakh gram panchayats have been connected to the internet under the first and second phase of Bharat Net. While major achievements have been made in this project, some challenges are also being resolved. By October 2024, a total of 46729 gram panchayats in Uttar Pradesh have been connected with optical fiber cable/satellite link under the Bharat Net project. Whereas 24575 gram panchayats in Maharashtra, 17850 in Madhya Pradesh, 14316 in Gujarat, 12955 in Andhra Pradesh and 12668 gram panchayats in Punjab have been covered by Bharat Net project.

Instructions to quickly connect pending electricity connections

Power connection plays the most important role for the success of 4G saturation project. Land acquisition took place at 90 sites out of total 132 sites in Eastern UP and Western UP. Out of these, electricity connections have been provided at 39 places. Connections have been provided at 21 out of 42 locations in the Western UP region. 22 sites in UP have been identified as “Technically Not Feasible” (TNF), of which 20 are located in dense forest areas. Yogi government has directed the Energy Department to expeditiously connect the pending connections and find alternative solutions for technical hurdles. The target is to add 8,568 new FTTH (Fibre to the Home) connections by December 2024.

Yogi government gave instructions for quick solution to the problems

To realize the dream of Digital UP, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed various departments to increase coordination and resolve the issues related to the project. Yogi government has decided to hand over the responsibility of maintaining and ensuring the utility of BharatNet equipment to Village Development Officers-Panchayat Secretaries. Under this, an officer (guardian) responsible for monitoring will be appointed at the Gram Panchayat level in the districts. Apart from this, where the fiber cables have been damaged due to “Har Ghar Jal Yojana”, road widening and other construction works, instructions have been given to complete their restoration work soon. The Forest Department has been asked to take expeditious action on pending land allotment. Also, the Energy Department has been directed to speed up the process of providing electricity connections and find solutions for difficult sites.

The state government spokesperson said that the BharatNet project is not only providing high-speed internet in remote and rural areas of the country, but it will also become an important means of accelerating education, health, e-governance and economic development in rural areas.
