Jodhpur, 04 December (Hindustan Reporter). Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Jodhpur Zone, dealt a major blow to the drug trafficking network under Operation Shankar and seized 865 kg of ganja and after sustained efforts, has now arrested the main kingpin of this inter-state network.
Zonal Director Ghanshyam Soni said that acting on special intelligence, the NCB Jodhpur team had stopped a Mahindra pickup vehicle near Gora Hotel in Fitkasani, Jodhpur on May 23. During the search, 71 packets of ganja were recovered from the vehicle. In the subsequent action, 99 additional packets were also seized. Thus, a total of 865 kg of ganja was seized, the estimated market value of which was estimated at Rs 4.30 crore. So far, 6 interstate drug criminals have been arrested in this case. The accused are in judicial custody and investigation into the case is ongoing.
Soni said that Mehram Vishroi, resident of Vinayakpura Bhavad Karwad, has now been arrested in connection with the case.
Main leader active since 2004:
According to Zonal Director Ghanshyam Soni, during interrogation it was revealed that Mehram Bishnoi, active since 2004, played an important role in running this smuggling network. In which contact was established between major smugglers Rakesh Sai and Baldev and ganja suppliers of Odisha. Then he became a partner with financial investments in the drug trade.
Target made for educational institutions:
The consignment of ganja smugglers mainly targeted students of IIT Jodhpur, AIIMS, NIFT and other educational institutions of Jodhpur city. Accused Mehram Bishnoi has been active in drug trafficking since 2004. A case of smuggling of ganja and another case under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) are registered against him in Karwad police station.
Soni said that the NCB team is now busy tracking down the smugglers from Odisha and Andhra Pradesh from where the ganja is supplied. Active buyers are being identified. The link is being added for this.
