PTI leader Shibli Faraz resigns from the post of member of Pakistan Judicial Commission.

Islamabad, 04 December (HIST). Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) member Shibli Faraz resigned from his post on Wednesday. Senator Shibli Faraz is a prominent leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). A day earlier, his party colleague Omar Ayub had also resigned from the post of member of the commission.

According to Geo News channel, PTI founder Imran Khan has nominated Senator Barrister Ali Zafar in place of Faraz in the 13-member JPC. Farage was nominated last month along with three other MPs from the upper and lower houses following the enactment of the 26th constitutional amendment.

The JCP is headed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan. It consists of two senators, two MNAs, three senior-most judges of the Supreme Court, the senior-most judge of the constitutional bench, the federal law minister, the attorney general, and a lawyer. The JCP is tasked with the appointment of judges to the Supreme Court, High Courts and the Federal Shariat Court, as well as monitoring the performance of High Court judges and preparing their annual performance appraisal.
