Champions Trophy 2025: Amidst the ongoing debate regarding hosting of the Champions Trophy, the Pakistan Cricket Board has once again given a big blow to the BCCI. The BCCI has strongly opposed the PCB’s stipulation on hybrid model for the tournament in February-March next year, saying that if India does not come to Pakistan, Pakistan will not play in India in future tournaments organized by the BCCI. On this, BCCI has given a message to ICC that there is no security threat in India and hence the question of accepting such a demand does not arise.
Champions Trophy will be played in hybrid mode
The PCB recently agreed to hold the Champions Trophy in a hybrid mode, allowing India to play its matches at neutral venues after refusing to travel to Pakistan for the tournament due to security reasons. However, Pakistan demanded from ICC that in return they too would not play in India in future tournaments organized by BCCI.
There are many tournaments in India
The BCCI has sent a clear message to ICC officials in this regard, sources told The Telegraph on Tuesday, leading to a fresh impasse. Let us tell you that India will host the Women’s ODI World Cup next year and the T20 World Cup jointly with Sri Lanka in 2026. The 2029 Champions Trophy and 2031 ODI World Cup are also to be played in India.
The meeting lasted only 15 minutes
The ICC Board’s virtual meeting was held last Friday, but it ended in just 15 minutes after the PCB rejected the hybrid model. However, later he agreed to play on that hybrid model, but he put a condition that he too would not play in India in future.
