Ahmedabad, 03 December (HS). On the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities, about 10 blind persons from Gujarat branch of National Federation of the Blind (NFB) met Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in Gandhinagar on Tuesday. It is noteworthy that International Day with Disabilities is celebrated every year on 3rd December with the noble intention of promoting the disabled in the mainstream of the society and changing people’s attitude towards them.

The theme of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities for the year 2024 has been set by the United Nations (UNO) as ‘Enhancing the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future’. Under the visionary and compassionate leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, the state government has adopted an approach in line with this theme. According to this vision of the Chief Minister, in the coming years, the recruitment process will be started on more than 21 thousand posts as per the rules by running a special recruitment drive (special recruitment campaign) for the disabled persons in the services of the state government.

For this sympathy shown by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, blind people of Gujarat branch of NFB met the Chief Minister directly on International Day of Disability in Gandhinagar and honored him and expressed gratitude. On this occasion, President, General Secretary and officials of Gujarat branch of NFB were also present. It is necessary to mention here that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, showing sympathy towards the physically or mentally weak person, has given a respectable name like ‘Divyang’ to the disabled people. In the year 2016, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Central Government has also passed the ‘Disabled Persons Rights Act 2016’ in the Parliament for the rights of persons with disabilities and protection is provided to the persons with disabilities. Not only this, the Central and State Governments have implemented many welfare schemes for the disabled.
