Not good news for central employees and pensioners. There may be a big shock in the new year i.e. January 2025. The lowest ever increase in dearness allowance may be seen. The increase in dearness allowance is expected to be the lowest in the last three years. The central government decides to increase dearness allowance every six months on the basis of AICPI index. According to the data till September 2024, dearness allowance of employees is expected to increase by 2 to 3 percent in January 2025. According to current figures, dearness allowance of central employees has reached 54.49 percent. However, the figures for October, November and December are yet to come.

What does the latest AICPI index data say?
According to the data released by the Labor Bureau, by September 2024 the AICPI index is at 143.3 points. Accordingly, by September the dearness allowance has reached 54.49%. But the figures for October, November and December are yet to come. Which should have ended by now. But it has been delayed. According to the current trend, DA is expected to increase once again to only 3% in January 2025.

What will be the new figures of dearness allowance?

– DA till July 2024: 53%

– Expected DA in January 2025: 56%

How much can DA increase?
Looking at the current trend, the index number is expected to reach 143.6 in October. With this, the dearness allowance figure of central employees will increase to 54.96%. Whereas according to this trend in November the index can touch 144 points. Due to this, dearness allowance may increase to 55.41%. Whereas till December 2024, a trend of 144.6 points is being seen in the index. In this, dearness allowance is estimated to be 55.91 percent. In such a situation, central employees will once again have to be satisfied with 3 percent only. A new hope may be broken in the new year.

DA till January 2025: ₹18,000 x 56% = ₹10,080/month
DA till July 2024: ₹18,000 x 53% = ₹9,540/month
3% increase difference: ₹540 per month
