In protest against the accidents happening on Boisar-Chilhar highway, Janasamarth tribal organization performed Shraddha of district administration and MIDC officials

Mumbai, March 14 (HS). People are angry over the poor condition of the Boisar-Chilhar Highway, which connects the famous Boisar-Tarapur industrial area of Maharashtra to the Mumbai-Ahmedabad National Highway. And the question is being asked to the state government that after how many more lives are lost in accidents, will the government wake up? To wake up the careless officials of the government, people organized a one-day demonstration under the leadership of Janasamarth Adivasi Sangathan and performed 'Shradha' of the district administration and MIDC officials. And provided food to the people. People said that the highway work has been going on for about 23 years. During this period, an entire generation became young but the highway work could not be completed. Safety rules are being flouted on this incomplete four-lane highway. Due to which accidents are happening on this route every day. And so far many people have lost their lives. From 2017 to 2023 alone, 70 road accidents took place on this route, in which 50 people died and many lost their limbs for life.

If the demand is not accepted then there will be a chakka jam against the government.

Mahesh Dhori, head of Janasamarthya Adivasi Sangathan, who is leading the protest, said that a fast was held last year also against the neglect of the Boisar-Chilhar road and the negligence of the officials and the fast was ended after getting assurance from the administration. But there was no improvement. Mahesh Dhori alleged that with the connivance of MIDC officials, the companies also took illegal possession of the margin space. Due to which people are continuously becoming victims of accidents. Till now hundreds of people have lost their lives on this highway. Many families were completely uprooted, but the government and its officials remain careless. Due to dangerous turns and lack of direction boards, lack of street lights, accidents are happening daily on the Boisar-Chilhar highway. Dhodi said that if the demand is not accepted, they will take to the streets and protest against the government and officials. Mahesh Dhodi claimed that the number of dead and injured in the accident is much higher, while complaints of many accidents are not registered.
