Ghaziabad, March 14 (Hindustan Reporter) MP and Union Minister of State for Road Transport, Highways and Civil Aviation, General Dr. VK Singh launched the 'PM Surya Ghar' free electricity scheme in village Kakra, Block-Muradnagar. Ghaziabad has become the first district in the country and Kakra has become the first village to benefit from this scheme. On this occasion, VK Singh said that PM Surya Ghar scheme is a source of light and earning money in the house.
Shri Singh said that on the occasion of the inauguration ceremony of Ram temple in Ayodhya and the consecration of Lord Ram, the Prime Minister had announced to give the gift of solar energy to one crore houses across the country. To make India self-reliant and overcome electricity shortage, it has been decided to provide Roop Top Solar to one crore homes. With this scheme there will be no shortage of electricity in homes. This scheme will not only provide electricity to the poor and middle class people, but India will also become self-reliant in the field of energy.
He said that under this scheme, up to 300 units of free electricity will be provided to the poor families living in the country. Apart from this, one can earn Rs 17 to 18 thousand annually by selling the excess electricity generated from it. Under this scheme, a target has been set to generate 40 thousand MW electricity by the year 2026. Consumers taking advantage of this scheme will have lower electricity bills and will save up to Rs 18,000 annually.
People eligible for this scheme can make proper use of their vacant rooftop for electricity generation. Pradhan Mantri Suryodaya Yojana will also help in charging of electric vehicles. To avail the benefits of this scheme you must be poor and middle class. The applicant must be Indian and the annual income of the applicant should not be more than Rs 1.5 lakh. For Pradhan Mantri Suryodaya Yojana, documents should be Aadhar Card, Income Certificate, Residence Certificate, Ration Card, Electricity Bill, Mobile Number, Bank Passbook, Passport Size Photo.
VK Singh also inspected the project installed on the roof of the house along with the concerned officers and villagers.
