Dehradun, 2 December (HS). Doon Lions, Doon King Rider, Doon Daredevils and Doon Champions have reached the semi-finals by winning their matches in the RP Memorial Cricket Tournament being played in the Police Lines at Race Course under the aegis of Uttaranchal Press Club.
On Monday, in the first match, Doon Lions defeated Doon Super King by 52 runs and in the second match, Doon King Rider defeated Doon Champion by 63 runs, but on the basis of better run rate, Doon Champion’s team reached the semi-finals. On Tuesday, the first semi-final match will be played between Doon Lions vs Doon Champions and the second semi-final will be played between Doon King Riders vs Doon Daredevils.
During the first inning of the competition, chief guest Tehri MLA Kishore Upadhyay said that sports leads to physical and mental development and inculcates a sense of discipline and a spirit is also seen in the players. It is the result of this social change that today a player has become global from local. Now that era has come where a nation is identified by the name of its player.
During the second inning, the chief guest, Chief Spokesperson of State Congress, Garima Mehra Dasauni said that such healthy competition from time to time is very commendable for the mental and physical health of journalists. During this, Uttaranchal Press Club President Ajay Rana introduced Tehri MLA Kishore Upadhyay and Chief Spokesperson of Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee Garima Dasoni to all the participants playing in the match and presented a flower bunch and a memento.
