Foundation day of Nagaland and Assam celebrated at Raj Bhavan

Dehradun, 2 December (HS). Under ‘Ek Bharat-Shreshtha Bharat’, the foundation day of Nagaland and Assam states was jointly celebrated at the local Raj Bhavan on Monday. On this occasion, cultural programs were also presented by the students of Assam and Nagaland. On this occasion, Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh (Retd) extended hearty congratulations and best wishes to the people of Nagaland and Assam on the State Foundation Day. The Governor met these students studying in Uttarakhand and also honored them by giving them gifts. The Governor expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for the unique initiative of organizing foundation days of all the states in every Raj Bhavan of the country in the form of ‘Ek Bharat-Shreshtha Bharat’. He said that mutual and cultural interaction between people of different states is very important.

While on one hand this will strengthen mutual relations, on the other hand it will also increase mutual understanding and trust, this is also the foundation of India’s strength. The Governor said that Nagaland is especially known for its unique identity and diversities. The tribal communities here, their languages, costumes, folk art, dance and festivals are famous not only in India but all over the world. The famous “Hornbill Festival” of Nagaland showcasing its rich cultural heritage is celebrated internationally every year. He said that both the states of Uttarakhand and Nagaland are blessed with natural beauty and historical importance. Both these states are symbols of diversity in their respective regions and the people of both are proud of their tribal, cultural and historical aspects. The arts and handicrafts of Nagaland, especially its traditional costumes, crafts and pottery, have made a mark for themselves in the global market.

The Governor said that it is an opportunity to celebrate the rich culture, cultural diversity, natural beauty and glorious history of Assam. Assam is also a center of spirituality due to the Kamakhya Temple and the banks of the sacred Brahmaputra, which attract millions of devotees. Our culture and nature deepen the bond between Assam and Uttarakhand. Both the states are specially determined to preserve the environment. He said that we all should understand each other and contribute to maintaining the unity, integrity and prosperity of the country.
