West Indies captain Craig Brathwaite has broken Gary Sobers’ record of playing most matches for the Caribbean team by taking part in the second Test against Bangladesh. This was Brathwaite’s 86th consecutive Test. Former West Indies captain Sobers played 85 consecutive Test matches from 1955 to 1972. He retired from international cricket in 1974.

Brathwaite, playing his 86th Test, made his Test debut in 2011 but has not missed a single Test since 2014. Former England captain Alastair Cook holds the record for playing consecutive Test matches. He played 159 consecutive test matches. India’s Sunil Gavaskar is also involved in this case. Bangladesh team, which played 106 consecutive Test matches, did not get a good start in the second Test also. On the first day affected by rain, Bangladesh won the toss and batted first and scored 69 runs for two wickets. Shadman Islam was on 50 and Shahadat Hussain was on 12 when the match was abandoned due to bad light. Kemar Roach took both the wickets for the Windies.
