Peshawar: The death toll in the violence that broke out between Shia and Sunni Muslims in Khyber province bordering Afghanistan in Pakistan has increased to more than 130. For the last 10 days, tribals of both the communities of this area have been attacking each other over the land issue.
Violence broke out between the Alizai and Bagan tribes of Khyber on 22 November. A convoy of vehicles was attacked in Parachinar area here, in which 47 people were killed, later the death toll in the attack increased to 57. Six more people died in the violence that broke out again on Sunday. Many people were killed in the last two attacks also. Due to which the death toll in this violence has increased to 130 in the last 10 days.
Just last Sunday a one-week peace deal was signed between Shias and Sunnis, although violence has continued since then. The incidents of violence are increasing especially in Kurram province. Internet service is closed in this area for the last several days. Along with this, all educational institutions also had to be closed. There is a land dispute between Shias and Sunnis in Khyber. More than 130 people have been killed in this violence while the number of injured has reached close to 200. Due to which the death toll may still increase.
