Dehradun gets new direction from ‘Shared Platform’, preparation for new flight of development

Dehradun, 30 November (HS). There was a different atmosphere on Saturday in the IRDT Auditorium located at Survey Chowk in Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand. Every aspect of development was discussed in the ‘Common Forum – District Forum of Doon, for Doon’ organized by the Uttarakhand government and the district administration. Government officials, experts and voluntary organizations shared their ideas to give a new direction to the future of the city.

This was the first time that representatives from different sections of the society were brought together on one platform and provided an opportunity to share their experiences and views. The workshop was inaugurated by Garhwal Division Commissioner Vinayankar Pandey, Padmashree Kalyan Singh Rawat, Padmashree Premchandra Sharma, Padmashree Madhuri Barthwal, District Magistrate Savin Bansal, Chief Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Kumar and Chief Development Officer Abhinav Shah by lighting the lamp. This workshop was organized to bring improvements in various sectors, in which important issues like local folk art, culture, water conservation, environment, agriculture, employment, education, women welfare, law and order and tourism were discussed. The objective of this three-hour long seminar was to make Dehradun an ideal example of beauty, harmony and strength. Experts and officials shared the platform to discuss important issues related to every sector of the city.

One platform, countless possibilities

This program brought together every department on one platform and proved that even the biggest challenges can be solved through joint efforts. This platform will prove to be a milestone for the development of Dehradun. ‘Shared Platform’ is not just a seminar but a concrete step to improve Dehradun. As one expert said, today we not only discussed the problems, but laid the foundation for solutions. This event has instilled confidence in giving a new direction to Dehradun. The common platform will be registered as a permanent forum.

Commissioner Garhwal Division Vinayankar Pandey appreciated this initiative and said that such programs in which face to face interaction takes place are very important. He suggested to the District Magistrate that this forum should be established as a permanently registered ‘District Advisory Forum’, so that the schemes and programs related to it can be implemented in a better way in accordance with the local culture, geographical condition and natural resources. .

Better facilities and opportunities for the people of the state and district through a common platform

Throwing light on the objective of the workshop, District Magistrate Savin Bansal said that the main objective of this forum is to utilize the suggestions received from all sections of the society, especially from social service organizations and intellectuals, towards the development of the state and the district. He said that on the basis of these suggestions, action plan of the schemes will be prepared, so that the people of the state and district can get better facilities and opportunities.

Objective of common platform

Chief Development Officer Abhinav Shah said that the objective of this seminar is to promote sustainable development and art and culture and to bring the benefits of the schemes to the ground by improving the education system, industry and basic systems. Besides, the schemes run on various aspects including health and employment for the local people have to be brought to the ground in a planned manner.

New approach to solving city problems

Panel discussions were mainly organized on nine topics in the workshop, in which experts and panelists presented their views on each topic. The program started with issues of education. Emphasis was laid on ensuring 100 percent graduation rate of children and reconnecting dropout girls with education. Chief Education Officer Vinod Kumar said that education should not be limited to the classroom only, it has to be linked to employment and vocational skills. Principal Shailesh Srivastava and other experts discussed in detail the quality of education, re-admission of dropout girls and measures to connect children with professions.

Effective plan to eradicate child labor and beggary

In the area of ​​eradication of child labor and beggary, District Probation Officer Meena Bisht and officials of Labor Department discussed effective plans for eradication of child labor and beggary.

Thoughts on water conservation

In the panel on water conservation and environment protection, Padmashree Kalyan Singh Rawat, environmentalist Vinod Juglan and other experts shared views on water conservation, environmental protection and sustainable development.

Regarding improving law and order, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ajay Singh and other police officers discussed improving law and order and traffic system in the state. He said that till the formation of the state, there were 4500 vehicles in the district, which has now increased to nine lakh. Whereas our resources are still limited. Regarding health services, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sanjay Jain, Additional Chief Medical Officer Dr. Nidhi Rawat, Dr. Rajeev Dixit, Psychologist Dr. Anuradha, National Tobacco Control Archana Uniyal, Kiran Thapa talked about improving the facilities in government hospitals, de-addiction campaign and to the general public. Shared their views on measures to provide proper health services.

Social welfare initiatives, focus on city cleanliness and environment

In the panel of Women and Persons with Disabilities Welfare Department, Social Welfare Department Officer Hemlata Pandey discussed the issue of better care for the welfare of women and persons with disabilities and working opportunities for them. Regarding the problems and improvements in the city, the Municipal Corporation officials suggested ways to prepare an action plan on issues like waterlogging, encroachment, pollution, animal cruelty and garbage disposal in the city.
