Vadaedara, 30 November (Hindustan Reporter). Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, at the inauguration and foundation stone laying ceremony of development works organized by Vadodara Municipal Corporation on Saturday, announced the construction of an overbridge in place of Alkapuri railway underpass to solve a perennial problem of Vadodara city.
The Chief Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of development works worth Rs 616.54 crore by unveiling the foundation stone under the Vikas Utsav organized by Vadodara Municipal Corporation. In the presence of Chief Whip Balkrishna Shukla and other leaders, the people of Vadodara were presented with development works like water supply, street lights, housing construction, rain and urban gutter system, roads, bridges and solid waste management. On this occasion, the Chief Minister flagged off new vehicles for cleanliness and other works. The Chief Minister said that at one time the annual budget for urban development in Gujarat was only Rs 750 crore, whereas this year the state government has made a provision of Rs 21,916 crore in the budget for urban development. Earlier, when development works worth Rs 5 or 10 lakh were done in the municipalities of the state in a year, there used to be a wave of happiness. At the same time, today development works worth crores of rupees are being done in a single day.
He said that recently Vadodara has been allocated Rs 68 crore for development in outgrowth areas and Vadodara Municipal Corporation has been allocated Rs 756 crore for urban development. He assured that there will be no reduction in allocation of funds for the development of Vadodara. The Chief Minister said that Vadodara is looking cleaner. It seems that Vadodara has made cleanliness its nature. Let us keep Vadodara clean like this because we have inherited the values of cleanliness. He also requested people to contribute to the Clean Vadodara campaign. Expressing resolve to preserve the rich cultural heritage of Vadodara, Chief Whip Balkrishna Shukla said that this government is dedicated to continuous development. Vikas Utsav is celebrated every three to four months in Vadodara and the Chief Minister is present in it and encourages all the people. He expressed happiness over the contribution of Vadodara Municipal Corporation in the development of the state with the support of the state government. On this occasion, the beneficiaries of the housing scheme were given the keys of their houses. Mayor Pinky Soni welcomed everyone and informed about the development plan worth more than Rs 616 crore and expressed her gratitude towards the Chief Minister and Gujarat Government for continuously supporting the development of Vadodara.
