Instructions to complete the construction works of highways and bridges related to Mahakumbh by 25th December

Chief Minister and Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways reviewed the works and road projects of National Highways. New road projects in Uttar Pradesh were also discussed in the review meeting.

Lucknow, 30 November (HS). Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed the updated status of national highways works and road projects related to Prayagraj Mahakumbh-2025 in a high-level meeting with Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari at the Chief Minister’s residence on Saturday. In the meeting, instructions were given to the officials that the remaining works of construction of related national highways, bypasses, inner ring roads and bridges should be completed by 25th December under any circumstances. The quality of these construction works should be completely ensured and safety standards should be taken special care of.

The Chief Minister said that out of 04 bypasses under construction at 04 places on National Highway-30 (Rae Bareli to Prayagraj section) – Jagatpur, Babuganj, Unchahar, Alapur, 02 have been completed, the remaining two should also be completed on time. There should be no unnecessary delay in the work of ROB under construction on Unchahar Bypass. The new 6-lane bridge and access road parallel to the bridge built on river Ganga in Phaphamau should be completed within the stipulated time.

The Chief Minister said that Prayagraj Mahakumbh-2025 is a gathering of India’s religious, cultural and social heritage. Crores of devotees and tourists from across the country and the world will arrive in Mahakumbh. In view of the facilities and arrangements for the devotees and tourists, the Central and State Governments are developing the infrastructure. Ambulances and recovery vehicles should be arranged at every 20 kilometers of national highways and patrolling vehicles and cranes to deal with special situations.

Yogi said that there should be mapping of all nearby hospitals with the existing incident management system for quick relief in case of incidents on national highways. Provision of CCTV and street lights should be ensured in all the highways leading to Prayagraj. Additional street lights should also be installed at important places. Arrangements should be made for additional toilets near toll plazas on the routes leading to Maha Kumbh and drinking water facilities, adequate medical and traffic assistance posts on national highways. For a pleasant experience of the devotees/tourists coming to Maha Kumbh, it should be ensured that the national highways are pothole free.

The Chief Minister pointed out the need for repair of Lucknow-Gorakhpur National Highway and Banda-Kanpur National Highway, Gorakhpur-Varanasi National Highway, on which the Union Road Transport and Highways Minister directed the NHAI officials to strengthen them. The Chief Minister said that it is necessary to strengthen the road from Naugarh in Siddharthnagar district to Tulsipur (Balrampur district) via Shohratgarh, agreeing to which the Union Minister directed the departmental officers to take necessary action.

The Union Road Transport and Highways Minister gave instructions to prepare a proposal for a ring road in Aligarh, Devipatan, Jhansi, Mirzapur and Saharanpur divisions. He said that bypasses are available in 53 districts in Uttar Pradesh and 08 bypasses are under construction. Proposals should be prepared for building bypasses in 10 districts of the state – Auraiya, Bulandshahr, Mainpuri, Bahraich, Baghpat, Bhadohi, Sambhal, Kaushambi, Chandauli and Shravasti. He gave instructions to prepare DPR of Gorakhpur-Shamli road and Kanpur-Ghaziabad road soon.

In this special review meeting of the Chief Minister and the Union Minister, new road projects in Uttar Pradesh were also discussed. Preparation of DPR regarding strengthening of NH 530B in Bareilly, a bypass in Pratapgarh district, conversion of Prayagraj-Dohrighat road from 2 lanes to 4 lanes, construction of Barabanki-Jarwal-Bahraich road (NH 927), construction of Kabrai-Kanpur corridor. Instructions were given to complete the process on time.

On this occasion, State Minister of State for Transport (Independent Charge) Dayashankar Singh, Minister of State for Public Works Brijesh Singh, Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister SP Goyal, Principal Secretary Public Works Ajay Chauhan, Principal Secretary Irrigation Anil Garg and Highways Ministry were present. , NHAI and senior officials of Public Works Department were present.
