Christchurch, 30 November (Hindustan Reporter). Star batsman Kane Williamson has registered his name in the record books on Saturday. He has become the first New Zealand cricketer to score 9,000 test runs.
He achieved this feat during the first Test match against England in Christchurch. After returning from injury, Kane Williamson performed strongly in the Christchurch Test.
The 34-year-old player scored 61 runs in 86 balls in New Zealand’s second innings. His innings ended after he was dismissed by Chris Woakes in the 36th over. Earlier in the first innings, the Kiwi batsman had scored 93 runs in 197 balls at a strike rate of 47.21.
Talking about the Test match, England won the toss and decided to field first. Thanks to Williamson’s fighting innings of 93 and Phillips’ 58 runs, the Kiwi team scored 348 runs in its first innings. Bryden Carse and Shoaib Bashir took 4-4 wickets for England.
In reply, England scored 499 runs in their first innings thanks to Harry Brook’s brilliant inning of 171 runs in 197 balls and Ben Stokes’ 80 runs. For New Zealand, Nathan Smith took 3 wickets and Matt Henry took 4 wickets.
With the help of Kane Williamson (61) and Daryl Mitchell (31) in the second innings, New Zealand lost 6 wickets for 156 runs at the end of the third day’s play. Daryl Mitchell (31*) and Nathan Smith (1*) are unbeaten.
