Raids at several places in Srinagar city to investigate suspects

Srinagar, 30 November (Hindustan Reporter). On Saturday, the police conducted raids in the city to investigate and arrest the suspects involved in spreading anti-national propaganda. Police said raids were conducted at several places in the city to arrest those involved in illegal and violent activities and anti-national propaganda. Objectionable materials and electronic equipment have been seized during this raid.

Police spokesperson said that searches were conducted in Batmaloo and HMT areas of Srinagar city in a case under Section 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act registered at Shergari police station. He said that investigation is going on against some persons who, at the behest of opponents and in criminal conspiracy with others, are instigating people to commit illegal and violent activities. At the same time, they are creating a fabricated and malicious story by distorting the facts and spreading false information. These people have been prima facie found to be involved in such a campaign. He said Srinagar district police conducted searches at the houses of Obais Riaz Dar of Bonpora, Batamaloo and Sahil Ahmed Bhat of HMT Jainakote after obtaining search warrants from the NIA court. He said that objectionable materials and electronic equipment were seized during the raid.

He said that more such searches would be conducted in the coming days at the homes of identified suspects involved in spreading malicious and seditious propaganda. He urged citizens to exercise responsibility while using social media platforms and avoid sharing or uploading inflammatory content that promotes false stories and misleads people, especially the youth, to commit terrorist acts.
