Gorakhpur, 30 November (Hindustan Reporter). Reflecting the growing global reach of Deendayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University, 13 international students enrolled in various programs in the year 2024, Vice Chancellor Prof. Met Poonam Tandon. The students took the opportunity to share their positive experiences and expressed satisfaction over the ease of the overseas admission process and their interactions with the faculty and staff of the University.
Eight PhD students from Nepal shared recent experiences discussing degree equivalency with Tribhuvan University. Pro. Tandon assured them that their degrees would be ensured at par with international standards. This assurance was given in the context of the recent Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Deendayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University and Tribhuvan University with the aim of promoting cooperation in education and research.
The Vice Chancellor reiterated the University’s commitment to providing quality education, strong research opportunities and comprehensive support to international students. He announced that the students will be provided accommodation in the newly established International Hostel, providing them a comfortable and enriching campus experience. Apart from this, Prof. Tandon promised to provide remote access to teaching and research material, which will ensure academic excellence of students.
To simplify their financial operations, all students will open their accounts at the University branch of Indian Bank, which will better integrate them into the University ecosystem.
During the meeting, the Vice-Chancellor invited suggestions from students on how the university can be made more friendly to international students. Students suggested the following:
1. Organizing cultural exchange programs to promote cultural understanding.
2. Establishment of a dedicated help desk for international students.
3. Providing language support services to reduce communication barriers.
Pro. Appreciating the valuable suggestions of the students, Tandon said, “Deendayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University is committed to providing an inclusive and globally competitive educational environment. “We will further strengthen our international reach and ensure that students from all over the world feel at home on our campus.”
Director of the International Cell, Dr. Ramwant Gupta, was also present at the interaction. He reaffirmed his support to international students at every stage of their academic journey.
The meeting concluded in a positive atmosphere, with students expressing gratitude for the University’s efforts in addressing their concerns and ensuring an enriching academic experience.
