Katihar, 30 November (HS). Indian Railways has taken several steps to provide clean and hygienic linen for passengers in air-conditioned sleeper class. Railways has procured new linen sets with improved Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) guidelines to improve the quality of linen.
In this context, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of NF Railway, Kapinjal Kishore Sharma said that Railways has installed mechanized laundries and standard machines and branded chemicals are used for washing linen materials. Whiteo-meter is used to check the quality of washed linen items.
Railways have set up war-rooms at zonal headquarters and divisional levels to monitor and take prompt action on complaints lodged on the Rail Madad portal, including complaints related to linen and bedrolls.
Indian Railways has also laid emphasis on advanced logistics for storage, transportation, loading and unloading of bedrolls including eco-friendly packaging. As per the current instructions, the blankets used in Indian Railways are lightweight, easy to wash and provide good insulation for a completely comfortable travel experience to the passengers.
