Prime Minister gave double gift to Delhi: Loan to street vendors and laid foundation stone of two metro corridors

New Delhi, March 14 (HS). Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday distributed loans to one lakh street vendors of the country including 5 thousand street vendors of Delhi under the PM Swanidhi Scheme at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Along with this, Prime Minister Modi also laid the foundation stone of two new corridors in the fourth phase of Delhi Metro from Lajpat Nagar to Saket-G Block and from Indralok to Indraprastha.

Speaking on this occasion, the Prime Minister said that today money has been transferred directly into the bank accounts of about 1 lakh beneficiaries across the country under the PM Swanidhi Scheme. Apart from this, the foundation stone of two new projects of Delhi Metro has also been laid today. Thus, it is a double gift date for the people of Delhi. Recalling the strength of street vendors during the pandemic, the Prime Minister underlined their importance in everyday life. He said that today's PM Swanidhi Mahotsav is dedicated to those people without whom we cannot imagine our daily life. We have seen this power of street vendors during Corona.

Accusing the previous governments of neglecting the street vendors, he said that the stalls and shops of the street vendors may be small, but their dreams are big. When he needed money while selling goods on the footpath, he was forced to borrow money at high interest rates. Referring to the fact that these people do not even have bank accounts, the Prime Minister said that they had to give various kinds of guarantees to open accounts in banks. In such a situation, it was impossible for them to get a loan from the bank. Modi said that people who had bank accounts did not have any record of their business. The Prime Minister said that he himself has come out of poverty and reached here, hence the one whom no one asked, Modi asked him and also worshiped him.

Recalling the launch of PM Swanidhi Yojana during Covid, the Prime Minister highlighted a recent study which said that the income of street vendors has increased manifold and digital records of purchases are also helping them avail benefits from the bank. Are. He also informed that cashback of Rs 1200 can be redeemed every year on digital transactions. The Prime Minister said that under PM Swanidhi Yojana, so far 62 lakh beneficiaries of the country have received approximately Rs 11 thousand crores. He expressed happiness over the fact that more than half of the beneficiaries of PM Swanidhi are women.

The Prime Minister said that Modi is engaged in improving the lives of the poor and middle class. On the other hand, there is the Indi alliance, which has united in Delhi with a manifesto to abuse Modi. The ideology of Indi alliance is to fuel misgovernance, corruption and anti-national agenda. Whereas Modi's ideology is to move from public welfare to national welfare, to root out corruption and appeasement and to make India the third largest economic power in the world. They say that Modi does not have a family. For Modi, every family in the country is his family. That is why the whole country is also saying – I am Modi's family.

He said that our government has taken important steps to empower the street vendors keeping in mind their needs. Of the more than 4 crore houses built in the country, about 1 crore have been allotted to the urban poor. Our government is running a big campaign to provide permanent houses to the slum dwellers in Delhi. It is noteworthy that under this, more than 3,000 houses have been built so far in Delhi. Referring to the recently launched PM Surya Ghar Yojana, the Prime Minister said that under this scheme, the government will provide full assistance for installing solar panels on the rooftop. This will provide up to 300 units of free electricity. The government is going to spend Rs 75 thousand crores on this scheme.

The Prime Minister said that the BJP government is making tireless efforts to improve the lives of the poor and the middle class. On the one hand, we have built permanent houses for the urban poor, on the other hand, we have helped middle class families to build houses. A subsidy of Rs 50 thousand crore has been given to about 20 lakh middle class families across the country to build permanent houses.

On this occasion, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that Delhi Metro is an important aspect of India's urban development. Today 945 km metro network is operational in the country and 919 km metro line is under construction. 65-70 lakh passengers are using the metro facility every day in Delhi. He said that the Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone of two new corridors of Delhi Metro from Lajpat Nagar-Saket-G Block and from Indralok to Indraprastha. These corridors will be more than 20 kilometers long in total. The total cost of this project will be Rs 8400 crore. The construction of these two corridors will benefit approximately 2.5 lakh passengers every day.
