A war has broken out between the England Cricket Board and its players. England players have now rebelled against a decision of the ECB and are now planning to take legal action against their own board. Due to which a big controversy has arisen. Actually, ECB has recently issued a new policy for its players. Under this, he banned English cricketers from playing in Pakistan Super League. Now the players have decided to take a big step against this decision.
Players will take legal action
Players angry with the ECB’s decision have claimed that they are unaware of the new No Objection Certificate (NOC) policy. Therefore, he has demanded an urgent meeting next week, so that he can understand these rules and find a solution with the board.
This rule is being protested primarily by players who do not have an ECB contract or who are only on white ball format contracts with the county. They believe that the new policy of ECB may limit their opportunities and cause them huge losses. Therefore he has adopted a strict stance. The players are discussing their options with the Professional Cricketers’ Association (PCA) as well as among themselves on WhatsApp group chat.
According to the report, PCA’s interim chief executive Daryl Mitchell has said that the association’s legal team is investigating the ECB policy. After assessing the impact of the England Cricket Board’s decision, it can be challenged legally. Mitchell further said that the ECB implemented its new policy without any discussion with the players. Due to which many cricketers of England are worried.
What did the ECB say on the new policy?
ECB Chief Executive Richard Gould said about the board’s decision that this policy has been taken to ensure the strength of domestic cricket. The board has said that players will be allowed to play in leagues of other countries like PSL and CPL only if there is no hindrance in domestic tournaments like T20 Blast and The Hundred.
IPL has been kept out of this rule
However, IPL has been exempted from this rule. In fact, next year Pakistani league PSL, America’s Major League Cricket, Canada’s Global T20 League and Sri Lankan Premier League may compete with England’s domestic league. In such a situation, many players of England would prefer to choose a league that pays more, which may have an impact on the ECB.
