BAS: ISRO is planning to send three astronauts into space with the Indian space station in the initial phase. According to the Indian Space Research Organisation, BAS aims to facilitate a range of scientific endeavors including interplanetary exploration, life sciences and medical studies. The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has announced plans for the Indian Space Station (BAS), a major step forward in India’s space exploration capabilities.

BAS will be made for 52 tons and three passengers
According to ISRO, the BAS weighs 52 tonnes and will initially be built for a crew of three, with plans to increase this capacity to six in the future. The ambitious project was unveiled during a Kannada technical seminar at the UR Rao Satellite Centre, Bengaluru.

Attempt to create permanent space habitat
During this seminar, ISRO highlighted the importance of creating a sustainable space habitat, which will enable long-duration missions and enhance research capabilities. The station is expected to play an important role in understanding the effects of microgravity on human health and developing technologies that can support life on other planets. Additionally, the Indian space station will serve as a platform for space tourism and exploitation of space resources, which will also mark a significant shift towards more commercial applications of space exploration.

ISRO’s target from Indian space station
With the Indian Space Station, ISRO aims to not only advance scientific knowledge but also inspire the new generation of scientists and researchers. The potential for space tourism could open up new avenues for public engagement with space science, making it more accessible to people around the world.
