Kanpur, 29 November (Hindustan Reporter). Textiles have their own place apart from handloom, handloom and handicrafts. Their demand has also increased in the market. With the joint efforts of the Central Government and the State Government, work is being done to expand this business. Rakesh Sachan, Minister of Handloom and Textiles Department and Khadi and Village Industries, Sericulture, Export Promotion, Minister of Uttar Pradesh, said this while talking to the media after inaugurating the Gandhi Weaver Fair at Brijendra Swaroop Park in Kanpur late on Friday evening.
Appealing to the people of Kanpur, he said that they should come and buy the handloom and handicraft products available at very low rates in large numbers and become partners in the development of the country by increasing the prestige of the poor but self-confident handloom weavers and artisans. Prime Minister’s dream project P.M. Mitra Park and entrepreneurs were given information about its benefits. Of. P. Verma, Joint Commissioner Handloom, gave formal information to the weavers and general public about other schemes run by the Handloom Directorate.
Earlier, Rakesh Sachan, Minister of Handloom and Textiles Department, formally inaugurated the National Handloom Expo-2024 (Gandhi Weavers Fair) by lighting the lamp. The Minister visited the stalls of different provinces in the Expo premises and appreciated their excellent products. The Minister inspected the theme pavilion built by the Government of India, Ministry of Textiles, courtesy of Weavers Service Centre, Varanasi and took interest in knowing the process of making silk sarees and the process of block printing in textiles.
Sanjay Gupta, Deputy Director, Weavers Service Centre, Government of India, Varanasi, said that attractive handicrafts along with handloom products are available at very low rates in Kickspo. National Handloom Expo-2024, organized by Development Commissioner Handloom, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, New Delhi, (Gandhi Weaver’s Fair) will start from 25th November till 8th December at Brijendra Swaroop Park, Kanpur Nagar. Excellent products of handloom artisans and hand craftsmen from different states are available for sale and display. The duration of the expo is from 12 noon to 9 pm every day. In the expo, through a total of 80 stalls from Jhansi, Mau, Etawah, Kanpur, Aligarh and Varanasi districts of Uttar Pradesh including Haryana, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Rajasthan and West Bengal. It is a diverse and attractive product which is attracting people towards itself. Apart from this, 16 stalls of the state also have their products available to the customers at very reasonable rates.
On this occasion, Additional Deputy Director of Weavers Service Centre, Government of India, Varanasi Sanjay Gupta, Joint Commissioner of Handlooms K. P. Verma, Deputy Commissioner (Enforcement) P. C. Thakur and Regional Assistant Commissioner Deepak Tiwari were present.
