Kolkata, 29 November (HS). ISKCON demonstrated through ‘Kirtan’ at its Albert Road center for the second consecutive day on Friday. This demonstration was held to demand the release of Hindu religious leader Chinmoy Krishna Das imprisoned in Bangladesh. Also, concerns were expressed about the situation of religious minorities, especially Hindus, in Bangladesh.

ISKCON followers sang kirtans and demonstrated with placards in support of Das. ISKCON spokesperson Radharaman Das expressed concern over the deteriorating situation of religious minorities in Bangladesh. He said the Hindu community, which constitutes only eight percent of Bangladesh’s 170 million population, is facing continuous attacks.

There have been more than 200 attacks on the Hindu community in more than 50 districts in Bangladesh since the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League government on August 5.

Religious leader Chinmoy Krishna Das was arrested in a sedition case and the court later rejected his bail plea. Since then, protests have been held by members of the community at various places including major cities like Dhaka and Chattogram.
