The curtain has almost been lifted on who will be the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Shiv Sena president Eknath Shinde has indicated that veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Devendra Fadnavis will be the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra. This information has come to light from sources. However, no official announcement has been made yet.
Eknath Shinde was informed about this in the meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi yesterday.
Sources say that in yesterday’s meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi, Eknath Shinde was told that Devendra Fadnavis will be the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. In the meeting that lasted for about two hours, Eknath Shinde was told that he would be made the Deputy CM. Initially Shinde was not ready for Deputy CM, but later his stance softened.
Eknath Shinde wants to keep the Home Ministry with himself
Sources say that Eknath Shinde wants to keep the Home Ministry with himself. There will be a meeting of three top leaders of Mahayuti Devendra Fadnavis, Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar in Mumbai this evening. Apart from this, there can be a meeting of BJP MLAs tomorrow to elect the leader of the assembly party and later a meeting of Mahayuti is also to be held in Delhi.
BJP and Shiv Sena leaders want CM of their party
Leaders of the BJP, which achieved its biggest victory with 132 seats in the 288-member assembly, say Devendra Fadnavis should be the next Chief Minister. In 2022, when the BJP formed an alliance with Shinde’s forces after the fall of the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi government, Fadnavis became the deputy chief minister and Shinde became the chief minister.
Despite the recent election results, Shiv Sena leaders have demanded that Eknath Shinde should become the Chief Minister. Some Shiv Sena leaders cite the model of Bihar, where Nitish Kumar is leading the NDA government despite JDU having fewer seats than BJP. In Maharashtra, Shiv Sena has won 57 seats and Ajit Pawar’s NCP has won 41 seats.
