New Delhi, 28 November (HS). CBI has filed a petition in the Supreme Court demanding transfer of the trial against Jammu and Kashmir separatist leader Yasin Malik to the court in Tihar Jail instead of Jammu. The next hearing in this case will now be held on December 18.
CBI told the court that complete facility of hearing through video conferencing is available in Delhi’s Tihar Jail. Court is being held there. Many cases have been heard before also. CBI demanded that the trial against Jammu and Kashmir separatist leader Yasin Malik be conducted in Tihar jail instead of Jammu. The Supreme Court has issued notice to Yasin Malik and other accused in this case on the application of CBI. The next hearing of the case will be on December 18.
Actually, Yasin Malik is facing trial in the lower court there in the case of murder of four Indian Air Force soldiers and kidnapping of Rubia Saeed in Jammu and Kashmir. The TADA court in Jammu and Kashmir had issued summons to Malik for personal appearance. Yasin Malik also wants to appear in the lower court in Jammu and Kashmir and represent himself.
CBI has challenged the order of the lower court. CBI says that Yasin Malik is not a common terrorist, he has been regularly visiting Pakistan and has shared the stage with Hafiz Saeed. His going to Jammu and Kashmir may spoil the atmosphere there. There may be a threat to the safety of witnesses.
