Gopeshwar, 28 November (HS). Indian Air Force keeps doing adventure activities from time to time. Under the aegis of Air Force Headquarters Adventure Cell, Delhi, on Thursday, a team of 14 airmen and two guides left for Rishikesh from Chamoli Alaknanda River Ghat for expedition under the leadership of Air Force Wing Commander Vijay Bhatt. This team will reach Rishikesh on December 3. River Ganga is considered one of the most challenging rivers for white water rafting.
Wing Commander Vijay Bhatt said that such programs are organized by the Air Force from time to time. Airmen are trained in adventure activities. While this will inspire the youth to join the army, local tourism will also get a boost. He told that earlier expeditions have been conducted by the Air Force in Leh and in the Ganga river.
Guide Vivek Negi told that the expedition is starting from Chamoli Ghat, in which airmen will be given training about activities like rescue in white water river rafting, pad ling, how to save others etc. He said that sections have been made at the rate of 25 kilometers per day. Local youth will be motivated by the expedition and will be able to get employment at their local level.
