East Champaran, November 28 (HS). Superintendent of Police Swarn Prabhat has taken a very important decision on Thursday in the direction of better policing. He has started Crime Help Desk to make the district police more transparent and accountable. Through which the plaintiff will not have to visit the police station, circle, DSP and SP office to get information about the progress of his case.
Giving this information, the Superintendent of Police said that under 193 (3) (ii) BNSS, every litigant has the right to know the research process and progress of his case. To implement this right, arrangements have been made at three levels in the district. Under the first system, the plaintiff can directly contact the investigator of his case by filling Form “A”. The researcher has been instructed to provide the progress report of the case through Form “B” within 24 hours.
The second system has been implemented in the SP office in the form of Crime Help Desk. Here the plaintiff can fill and submit Form “A”, after which within 30 minutes the plaintiff will be given complete information about the case through Form “B”. This facility will also be implemented in CI and SDPO offices, so that litigants can easily get information at all levels. Under the third system, litigants can also get case information through WhatsApp on police helpline number 9470248818.
For this, they will have to send Form “A” and a scanned copy of their identity card from the mobile number mentioned in the FIR. There is enthusiasm among the public about this initiative, and it is being considered as a step towards promoting police transparency and also a major achievement towards protecting the rights of the plaintiff (victim).
