Free Ration Card News: The Government of India has recently taken an important decision, which is going to impact the everyday life of crores of citizens of the country. According to the new notification issued by the government, beneficiaries under the free ration scheme will now have to complete their eKYC process. The government has taken this decision with the aim of increasing transparency in the scheme and excluding wrong beneficiaries.
The government has also announced that this free ration scheme will continue for the next five years. This scheme is especially for the poor and needy citizens of the country who need food security. This initiative of the government will benefit about 80 crore people, who will be given wheat, rice and other essential food items as free ration.
Concern about fake ration card
A major problem to which the government is paying special attention is the continuously increasing number of fake ration cards. According to the report, there are many such cards who are availing the benefit of free ration despite being income tax payers. This raises questions on the effectiveness of the scheme and poses a challenge to the government.
Action should be taken against ineligible beneficiaries
The government has made it clear that the beneficiaries who have not done their EKYC after November 30. They will not be given ration under the scheme. It is expected that this step will help in preventing misuse of the scheme and only the genuine needy will be able to avail its benefits.
