Mamata Banerjee on Bangladeshi Hindus: Mamata Banerjee has reacted to the violent incidents against Hindus in Bangladesh and the arrest of Chinmoy Krishna Das, associated with the ISKCON temple. Along with this, he has also demanded immediate intervention from Modi government and international organizations. Along with this, Modi government has also got the support of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to take action on this issue. He expressed concern over the current situation in Bangladesh and said that the central government should take action in this regard. We are with whatever action the central government takes, I stand with the Modi government on this issue. Mamta Banerjee said on Thursday that this is a matter of another country. Therefore, I do not want to comment on this, because it is a matter beyond our jurisdiction. Banerjee clarified in the Assembly that this issue will have to be resolved by the Central Government and the State Government will follow the Centre’s decision.
Our government is with the central government on this issue
According to a report, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Thursday, ‘Our government is with the central government on this issue. We do not want any religion to be harmed. I have spoken to ISKCON here. Since this is a matter related to another country, the Central Government should take appropriate action. We stand with him on this issue.
United Nations sought intervention
Apart from this, Union Minister Giriraj Singh condemned the arrest of a Hindu leader in Bangladesh and said that such attacks are against humanity. He said on Wednesday that the attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh show that the country’s interim government is in the ‘clutches of fundamentalists’. He asked the United Nations to intervene in this matter.
India expressed concern over the arrest of Chinmoy Krishnadas Brahmachari
Earlier, India had expressed concern over the arrest of Chinmay Krishnadas Brahmachari of ISKCON temple in Bangladesh. Also appealed to ensure the safety of Hindus and minorities in Bangladesh. Chinmoy Krishnadas Prabhu held a rally in support of Hindus in Rangpur, Bangladesh on 22 November. Due to which action was taken against Chinmay Das and he was arrested. Not only this, his bail application was also cancelled.
Foreign Ministry criticized the attitude of Yunus government
The country’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement saying, ‘We are concerned about the arrest and denial of bail to Chinmoy Krishna Das. The incident comes after attacks on Hindus and other minorities by extremist elements in Bangladesh. Homes and businesses of minorities are being burnt and looted, they are also becoming victims of theft and vandalism. Unfortunately, the perpetrators of these incidents are roaming freely. While religious leaders who work legitimately through peaceful meetings are in jail.
