Bhai Mardana, spiritual companion of Baba Nanak

26 11 2024 Brother Mardana Ji. 9426

In the context of Baba Guru Nanak Sahib’s close relationship with Bhai Bala (Bhai Bala) and Bhai Mardana (Bhai Mardana) Ji, this poetic concept (My mother’s two companions, one on the right, one on the left, one tar pya chede, the other four hands ) Fabbe) is so deep, symbolic, heartbreaking. His deep friendship with Bhai Bala Ji and Bhai Mardana Ji also has a deeper meaning that he was the Yugpurusha, the unique person who created harmony and harmony between Hinduism and Islam.

union with guru sahib

Undoubtedly, Bhai Mardana Ji was Guru Nanak Sahib’s childhood friend and companion. When we say that his most prominent meeting with Guru Nanak Sahib took place in 1482-83 AD when he was about 23-24 years old and was married and had children, it does not at all mean that Before this, Sri Guru Nanak Sahib and Bhai Mardana Ji had never met each other. Bhai Mardana ji belonged to the hereditary Marasi Doom family of Talwandi village. According to Principal Satbir Singh, ‘Mardana’ was not his name. Her name was actually ‘Dana’. ‘Masculinity’ was a ‘quality’, ‘status’ i.e. ‘title’ which Guru Nanak Saheb had given him with great love. Dr. Bhai Veer Singh completely agrees about the title of ‘Mardana’ given by Sri Guru Nanak Sahib but while presenting a different opinion from Principal Satbir Singh regarding the original name ‘Dana’, he has written in his book ‘Shri Guru Nanak Miracle In ‘Bhai Mardana’s first name is mentioned as ‘Marjana’. It is mentioned in this book that some time after the marriage of Bebe Nanaki ji, when brother Jai Ram ji along with Bebe Nanaki came to Talwandi, the in-laws’ house of Rai Bhoi, for the first time, he went to Rai Bular Saheb’s mansion. During the conversation, Rai Bular Sahib praised the great divine power of Sri Guru Nanak Sahib and his steadfast friendship with the village’s Qayamat musician Bhai Mardana Ji and told Jai Ram Ji that before Mardana’s birth his mother (Mai Lakho) ) Had done a lot of work and had sons but God’s will was such that everyone became dear to Allah.

When Mardana was born, the frightened mother started calling him ‘Marjana’, ‘Marjana’. Absorbed in that thought, Mamta thought that by saying die, die, the angel of death will not come to her son. Thus, the name Marjana was fixed, but Guru Baba converted her from dumb, to dead, to a man called ‘Mardana’ by appreciating her talent, i.e. her singing, her remarkable ability to memorize and especially her Raga Vidya. Changed to. The name of the respected father of Bhai Dana-Marjana ji was Bhai Badre ji or Mir Badra ji; Whereas Pujya Mataji’s name was Mai Lakho Ji. Bhai Mardana ji because he belonged to Marasi, Doom or Mir Alam family of Talwandi village. That’s why he used to play Veena and sing the praises of Chaudhary and Mohatbar people of the village. Rai Bular Khan Bhatti Saheb was the owner of Talwandi village. Guru Nanak Sahib’s father Mehta Kalu was the Patwari of his jagir. Being the Marasi of the village, it was natural for Bhai Badre and his son Bhai Mardana ji to visit the houses of Rai Bular Saheb and Mehta Kalu ji. The philosophy and grammar of Guru Nanak Sahib is absolutely unique:

“Take the price of the guna somewhere.

Even if you don’t have the skills, you will be able to join.

Mentioned in the words of Bhai Gurdas ji

Bhai Gurdas Ji has mentioned Bhai Mardana Ji in the context of Guru Nanak Sahib twice (first and eleventh) (Pheri Baba Gaya Baghdadi No Bahri Jai Kiya Asthana. Majal Mardana Mirasi..) How much respect is there with which Guru? , It is clear from this that Nanak Saheb and Bhai Mardana ji became one. Beyond the personal union, this union extends to a comprehensive combination or grand union of ‘word’ and ‘music’. Being of Akal form, Guru Nanak Saheb was adept in all arts since childhood. According to Bhai Gurdas Ji, inside the Guru-ghar where Guru Nanak Sahib is known and recognized as Akal Purakh Bhagwan, the main identity of Mardana Ji is Rababi: “Iku Baba Akal Rupu Dhana Rababi Mardana”.

Such was the intimacy of the relationship

Whenever the parents of the first Patshahi Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji had to explain or explain anything, they used to use Bhai Mardana Ji as their medium for this work. According to father Mehta Kalu ji and mother Tripta ji, Bhai Mardana ji used to go to convince or convince Guru Nanak Sahib, but mostly the opposite happened. He had gone to explain something to Guruji, he would have understood on his own. While it was a natural part of Guru Sahib’s nature to listen to and respect others, he was also very gifted at caring for a friend and considering the advice or warning he gave.

He supported Guru Sahib in times of sorrow.

Bhai Mardana Ji was with Guru Nanak Sahib when he started this series of three days of deep meditation in the Ven River of Sultanpur Lodhi in the year 1497 AD, sometime after the dramatic event. During all the long journeys (sorrows) undertaken by the Satgurus, Bhai Mardana Ji always remained with him like a shadow. For a long time, Bhai Mardana ji served the first Guru Nanak Dev Ji with all his heart, mind and wealth and always supported Guru Sahib.

last time

Guru Nanak Sahib’s world journey came to an end when Bhai Mardana Ji left this mortal world on the banks of Darya Kurram in Afghanistan on 13 Maghar of Sammat 1591 (28 November, 1534 AD). Bhai Mardana is one of those beloved Sikhs or Murids of Gur-Itihas, who not only left his body in the sacred lap of the Satgurus, but also performed the last rites of his dead body with the Satgurus with his own hands. It is also clear from this fact that a major reason for the end of Guru Nanak Saheb’s world tour was the separation from a very dear friend and disciple.

After the demise of Bhai Mardana Ji, Guru Nanak Sahib spent the rest of his life in Kartarpur (Ravi) after completing the Sansar Ratan Abhiyan. Overall, Bhai Mardana Ji enjoyed friendship with the great Guru Nanak Sahib for about 50-60 years. From this point of view he was truly a lucky man. Undoubtedly, Guru Nanak Sahib’s heart and his place in Guru-History is very big, special and important.
