On one hand, the Indian cricket team is on Australia tour, while on the other hand, the England cricket team is busy playing a Test series in Australia’s neighboring country New Zealand. The England team that went on New Zealand tour has suffered a big setback before the start of the Test series. Wicketkeeper-batsman Jordan Cox was injured.

Cox was ruled out of the tour with a fractured right toe on the second day of England’s warm-up match against the Prime Minister’s XI in Queenstown on Sunday. In his place, Ollie Pope has to play the role of wicketkeeper in the first test. Meanwhile, big news has come from England. Wicketkeeper Ollie Robinson has been called up to New Zealand midway through the first Test to replace the injured Jordan Cox.

England’s big advertisement

With Jamie Smith going on paternity leave, Jordan uncapped Cox was given wicketkeeping duties for the entire series, but he was injured before the first Test. After this, in the first Test which started in Christchurch on Thursday, Ollie Pope took the responsibility of wicketkeeping and Jacob Bethel was handed his first Test cap.

Ollie Robinson may get a chance in the second Test starting next Friday i.e. 6th December in Wellington. Interestingly, he is the second player with the same name to be included in the England team in the last three years. Let us tell you, he is not related to the other Ollie Robinson, although both the players were born in Kent and share the same birthday on 1 December.

Updated England squad for New Zealand tour: Zach Crawley, Ben Duckett, Jacob Bethel, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ollie Pope (wk), Ben Stokes (c), Chris Woakes, Gus Atkinson, Brydon Cares, Shoaib Bashir, Bencherehan Ahmed, Matthew Potts, Jack Leach, Olly Stone, Olly Robinson.
