Solan, 27 November (Hindustan Reporter). The arrest by CBI in the corruption case that came to light in Baddi, the industrial area of district Solan, has created a stir across the state. Along with taking action in Baddi, CBI also raided the premises of guilty officers in Solan, Shimla and Chandigarh and seized cash and documents.
Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken major action in the corruption case in Employees Provident Fund (EPFO) office Baddi district Solan. CBI has arrested three accused including Regional PF Commissioner Baddi, Enforcement Officer and a consultant (private person). According to CBI, Regional PF Commissioner Ravi Anand and Enforcement Officer Madan Lal are accused of demanding a bribe of Rs 10 lakh from the complainant. Both these officers had demanded the bribe amount through consultant Sanjay Kumar Yadav.
A complaint was made to the CBI on November 23, after which the investigating agency registered a case against the consultant along with the enforcement officer on November 24 and the matter was investigated further. During the investigation, the name of the Regional Commissioner also came up in this matter. It is noteworthy that the CBI had taken the three accused into custody last Sunday itself. But it happened on Wednesday only after getting all the solid evidence.
Bribe demanded from firm to settle PM case
MS Satol Chemical Unique-2 firm, located in Parwanoo, the gateway to Solan district, had filed a complaint with the CBI alleging that the enforcement officer had demanded bribe to settle the firm’s PF case. The PF case of the firm is pending with EPFO office Baddi. It is alleged that the firm owner was threatened to pay Rs 45-50 lakh if the money was not paid.
This information was given to the Central Investigation Agency, which laid a trap and caught the accused red handed while accepting the bribe amount.
CBI presented the three accused in the special court on Wednesday afternoon, from where all three have been sent on police remand till November 30.
The complainant company, a manufacturer of hand wash, liquid soap and floor cleaner, in this case told the CBI that in the year 2019, EPFO had given a notice to the firm in the PF case. After which he was repeatedly called to the office by Nahan and Baddi EPFO office in this matter for five years. The documents which the officials asked for were provided. Presently this matter was being looked after by Enforcement Officer Madan Lal Bhati. When he requested to quickly settle the case pending for five years, Madan Lal Bhati asked to settle the matter through a consultant, after which consultant Sanjay Yadav promised to pay a bribe of Rs 10 lakh. It was also said that if bribe is not paid, Rs 40 to 50 lakh will be recovered by the department as PF recovery.
