New Delhi 27, November (His). The National Minorities Commission has taken suo motu cognizance of media reports regarding violence in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh. The National Minorities Commission has sought a report from the Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh regarding the Sambhal violence.
According to media reports, violence broke out in Sambhal when a mob protesting against the survey of the Mughal-era Jama Masjid clashed with security personnel. During this period, twenty-four police and administrative personnel were injured and four people from the crowd were reported killed. The Commission has written a letter to the Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh asking for a detailed report on this matter.
