Varanasi, 27 November (HS). Auto driver Devishankar Rai (55), who was injured in a collision with the car of Rajatalab Police Station Officer recently near Harhua Ring Road intersection of Baragaon police station area, died during treatment on Wednesday afternoon. After the death of the driver, there was an uproar among his family members. A case has already been registered against the police station incharge in this case.
After the incident, angry people even beat up the Rajatalab Police Station Officer. The family members of deceased auto driver Devi Shankar Rai allege that the police is not taking action on their complaint. The entire department is busy trying to save the police station chief.
It is worth noting that on November 23, Rajatalab Police Station Head Ajit Kumar Verma was coming to Varanasi city in plain clothes, driving his own car with his family. As soon as he reached Baragaon Harhua intersection, suddenly Devi Shankar Rai (55), a resident of Bhatauli village, came in front of his vehicle with his auto. Despite all the efforts of the police station head, the car collided with the auto behind. Devi Shankar was injured in the accident. Seeing this, the police station chief parked his car on the roadside and came down to send the auto driver for treatment. The crowd gathered there at that time beat him and injured him. After getting information about this, the police of Baragaon police station reached the spot. After saving the Rajatalab police station chief who was surrounded by the crowd, the police sent the injured auto driver to Harhua Primary Health Center by ambulance. Where seeing his condition he was admitted to BHU Trauma Centre. The injured auto driver died during treatment today.
