Bumrah took 8 wickets during India’s 295-run win in the first match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy as part of the ICC World Test Championship series. He was the ‘Player of the Match’ in the match. With this performance, Bumrah jumped two places from his old ranking. He has left behind South African fast bowler Kagiso Rabada and Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood. In this way, he has again captured the throne of ICC rankings in Test bowling.

Australia’s left-arm fast bowler Travis Head has moved up three places to 10th position after his innings of 89 runs in Perth.
