Market closed in green, Sensex at 80,234 points

An initial decline was seen in the stock market on Wednesday. However, later both Sensex and Nifty were seen trading in the green. Now the market is seeing a rise during closing at 3.30 pm. Both Sensex and Nifty closed in the green. Sensex closed 230 points up at 80,234 points and Nifty closed 82.20 points up at 24,276 points.

Major stock indices Sensex and Nifty rose on Wednesday due to sharp rise in Adani Group shares and fresh foreign fund inflows. The rupee fell 15 paise (provisional) to close at 84.44 against the US dollar on Wednesday.

Among 30 Sensex stocks, Adani Ports gained 6 percent. NTPC, HDFC Bank, Bajaj Finance, Maruti and Axis Bank were also among the gainers. In contrast, Titan, State Bank of India, Asian Paints, Tata Consultancy Services, HCL Tech, Sun Pharma, IndusInd Bank and ICICI Bank were the laggards.
