CC has called a meeting on November 29 regarding the organization of Champions Trophy. In this meeting, efforts will be made to find a solution to the issue of Pakistan rejecting the hybrid model and India not visiting Pakistan. The meeting will be virtual and the final decision will be taken after concrete consensus of the ICC Board.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) board will meet on Friday, November 29 to finalize the Champions Trophy schedule. The announcement of the program has been delayed after India’s refusal to go to Pakistan. Along with this, Pakistan has also refused to adopt the hybrid model. At present, Pakistan has the right to host the Champions Trophy.

According to a report in ESPNcricinfo, Greg Barclay is currently the ICC chairman and this will be the last meeting under his chairmanship before he steps down on December 1. After this, BCCI Secretary Jai Shah will replace him. The ICC Board consists of members from the 12 full member states, while it also includes three representatives from associate countries, the ICC President and CEO along with independent directors.

This tournament is scheduled to be played next year

It is noteworthy that this tournament of eight teams is to be played from February 19 to March. The schedule of the tournament has not been formally announced yet. Till now ICC used to announce the schedule of global tournaments 100 days before the start of the tournament. The announcement of the program is being delayed due to the Indian Government not allowing Team India to tour Pakistan.

ICC was informed about this decision two weeks in advance. The PCB was given a chance to host the Champions Trophy in 2021 itself and the PCB has asked the ICC to explain the reasons given by the BCCI for not touring. According to a PCB official, they have not yet received any response from the ICC on this issue. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is adamant on hosting the Champions Trophy in Pakistan.
